Bobcast 37 - BCC As It Use To Be Part 4

Click here to listen to the Podcast.
For this last podcast in the series I talked with two men who held important positions at the college when I first came to work here. Clete Siefker and Jon Peterson worked in the business end of the college. Clete Siefker was for many years the comptroller at the college and Jon Peterson worked with Clete as a senior accountant. Both of these men worked here starting in the 1970's when the College was smaller and the employees were a closer knit group. The term "College Familty" really meant something in those days. I hope you enjoy visiting with Clete and Jon as they discuss BCC As It Used To Be.

bobcast #37 BCC As It Used To Be Part 3

Click here to listen to the podcast.

If you can remember BCC looking like the picture on the left, you should have been retired long ago. This was the way BCC looked in the beginning. Someone who has retired from BCC but wasn't here in the beginning ( close 1970) is Steve Eliot. Steve visited with me in the bobCast Studio to talk about old times and his teaching career at BCC. This is a great look at a guy who really made a difference in his student's lives. I know because he taught two of my sons when they were students.

bobCast # 34 The Shouan Pan Podcast

Click here to heard bobCast #34

A few days a go Dr. Patrick Ellingham and I spent some time with Dr. Shouan Pan and spoke with him about his new appointment as President of Mesa Community College, his background in education, his experiences as a Chinese -American and his future plans. We are in the process of making a video podcast of the interview which will be out in a few days. But I wanted to share some of the interview with in the form of an audio podcast while Dr. Pan is still among us. He is scheduled to take his new position as of the first of February.
Of all the things he spoke about, I was most impressed with his story of growing up in China during the time of the Cultural Revolution, and how it affected not only his boyhood but the impact it have on his family. Many of the liberties that we as Americans take for granite Dr. Pan was not afforded while growing up. In the selected segment taken form the interview he relates some of his experiences to us.

We wish Dr. Pan well in his future adventures, and hope he will keep us in his heart as we will keep him in ours.
